Grilled went one better than nine, with Rotteveel picking up the fifth fiver in his career with strikes in the second, 38th, 40th, 47th and 79th minutes. If the Pulau Ubin-based side had hoped to frustrate Grilled, it lasted just seventy seconds, as the Dutch striker sprang at a loose ball in the six-yard area, dummied, and stroked it into the net.
Some of the home side's players seemed awed by the occasion, not least 24 year-old Dai Weili, who got caught in two minds whether to try and dribble out of trouble, or just put the ball out. This was a pity, as he had shown some nice touches earlier on. In the end, only assistance from a fellow defender changed what would have been a probable goal into a corner.
cloudnine then went into a shell and defended resolutely, with the next goal not coming until the 37th minute. MacKinnon might have turned Chuancheng's cross in but fouled up his header, leaving Subri to school him in finishing with a one-touch ball off Jianyong's effort.
Rotteveel then completed his hat-trick before half-time, scoring twice in the next three minutes as Grilled's frontline proved a little too clever for cloudnine's amateur team.
Rotteveel was far from done, and rifled in a fourth for himself right after the restart; seeing that opposition goalie Wei Zhonghua barely moved for that, Chuancheng gambled with a good try from all of thirty metres, which Zhonghua indeed let slip.
Subri and Chuancheng then achieved their braces, before
Quah Han Kok made it seventeen consecutive scoring seasons by nicking the ball off a disheartened Han Kum and sending it into the top corner. Rotteveel delivered the coup de grace in style with eleven minutes left.
