Until Next Time
As the two sets of players exchanged jerseys after the hard-fought game,
Niculae Stanca confirmed that Grilled were done with the national tournament ladder for now, retiring with a 5-2 record. "We have many other things to concentrate on, and while these matches have been useful, they're also beginning to take a toll on the players. I believe them when they say they can't get enough football, but there are real physical limitations."
Stanca then turned his attention to SpartanSG, who are currently on a four-game unbeaten run. With key midfielders Shaiful Bahri bin Ahmad Rosdi, Lin Lai Pin and Sergio Vázquez all in fine form, Stanca emphasized that Grilled needed to be at their very best.
"I know that
Zhao Jing Wei really wants to be on the winning side - he's been last to leave training, since his arrival. I don't mind revealing that he is definitely starting, and if he carries on like this, he may well become the first name on the teamsheet for every match!"
