Changi Clubbed

Benny Josefsson made a solid if unspectacular debut for Grilled, as he marshalled the youngsters in midfield to a routine win over Division Five opposition. Eager to make up for lost time, Josefsson hustled well to win the ball in the fifth minute, which led to rightback
Sándor Deme being the first of Grilled's new batch of wide trainees to score an official goal.
The Hungarian lad appeared to shove the last man off balance as he went for Mirchev's pass, which didn't endear him to the home crowd one bit, but Deme could have cared less as he wheeled away to celebrate wildly after seeing Li Woo-Sung miss his rather unschooled shot.
There were more whistles from the stands as
Peter Fjällbratt broke up a budding Changi attack by tugging insurance adjuster Mohd Zaharul back, deservedly getting a yellow card, but like Deme he was soon to forget that as he used his height to good advantage from a Rotteveel corner. Nobody came close as Fjällbratt met the ball squarely with his forehead to power it just under the crossbar.
Rotteveel followed up with the third after a dash down the right with Penati, having clearly won the Italian kid's respect as Penati passed up a likely scoring opportunity to give Rotteveel a wide open target to aim at. A case of one speedster admiring another, perhaps.
Nawaz Talib was strangely slow in getting down to make a sliding tackle, which resulted in another yellow when he caught a bit of Yang Ngoc-Tu late. Valdir wasn't troubled by the weak free-kick, though, and Grilled got another goal before the break as
Fabian Bona went airborne to kick in a fourth diagonally across the goal.
With the match clearly over, Grilled took things somewhat easier in the second forty-five minutes, leaving it to
Maikel Rotteveel to enhance his personal glory with a superb solo run.
