Benny Cut
Benny Josefsson has moved on back to his native Sweden after playing a grand total of one match for the Birds, in what might be the shortest Grilled career ever. "It was unfortunate, but after that food poisoning episode, Benny had great trouble fitting in." a fitness coach was reported as saying. "He had problems with the tropical sun and the humidity, which is not at all uncommon with European players actually."
"We might have been willing to wait it out. Liehner was insistent that we give him the chance to prove himself, but finances being what they were, the board decided that we couldn't justify paying three hundred grand a week for a bench-warmer who might not be useful for most of the season. Benny tried too, but one could sense he wasn't enjoying himself, and the transfer was probably for the best."
After a week of low-key enquiries for possible buyers, the field was narrowed down to two clubs, BK Brus of the Swedish Fourth Division, and Oh eiras Clicker FC of the Portugeuse Sixth Division. It wasn't too hard a decision to make for Benny, who wanted a stint at home, and Grilled even managed to recoup most of their original investment as they negotiated for a S$4.276 million fee.
"In the end, we still made an overall deficit of a million or so taking taxes and wages into account, but I suppose we all make mistakes once in a while." one of Grilled's financial planners said. "Liehner will have the money to use should, touch wood, anything befall any of our players, but for now it will make our bankers less nervous by sitting in the vaults."
