All three Grilled clubs would be represented in the national youth squad for the U21 Asia and Oceania Cup, with Chad Thach from Grilled Birds, Amirul Jufri Khairil from Farmer Bunnies and Phua Li Kong from Grilled International making the cut for the opening match. Unfortunately, Singapore lost 3-4 against a splendidly-counterattacking Palestine, but Thach did grab his fifth international goal for the U-20 side, alongside Dynamo Kropstädt's Ooi Lai Qiang scoring the other two.

Amirul and Phua would not get off the bench, but with nine more games remaining in Group C, they should get their chance - not forgetting also their many club teammates with similar ambitions. "It was great fun to watch." Thach's Birds buddy Chia Kwang Tse commented, as he joined a number of other players in the stands at Singa Arena. "It could only have been better, had we been down there as well!"
