Suparman A Keymaster
Grilled International's 17 year-old academy player Suparman Prihantono would be taken on by Dutch sixth divisioners Keymasters on a trainee contract today. This marks the beginning of an unlikely pro career for the utility man, who had been rejected by Bruneanitos and turbo Brunei junior, before Adinath Pant took a chance on him, for the Busy Bees.
There's still plenty to do, according to his mentor. "Prihantono has, to put it bluntly, not improved as much as we had hoped." Pant opined. "But he caught someone's eye, and who am I to stand in his way? He should find a position he's good at soon, however, and drill there pronto."
A host of youngsters, mostly every bit as good, were less fortunate, and would be released after their final extensions ran out. This list included Kristofer Simon, Ong Tze Chin and Lee Ming Ping for Grilled Birds; Jairam Alurkar, Mak Yew Leong and Tham Leng Dong for Farmer Bunnies; and Roshardi bin Danial and Mahmood bin Hj Shahabuddin amongst Prihantono's previous teammates at Grilled International.
