Leri Comes International
Didi Reidenbach continued with his youth recruitment as he signed Georgian teenager
Leri Bezhanishvili from Finnish IV.43 side Krapula, for S$490,000. Bezhanishvili had spent just over a month there since arriving from his original club Shavnabada01, but dominating displays in both midfield and defence had put him on the radar of International's scouting network in that short period.
"He's not just big, he knows how to use his size." assistant coach Hafiz bin Hj Lamat analyzed. "That will complement our other trainees from his batch quite well."
It was Bezhanishvili's performance in his latest friendly against Italian Division Seven club Faido that tipped the scales, according to Hafiz, from how he combined with Samu Heiskanen to help Krapula to a 2-0 victory. The 17 year-old would be assigned the Number Six jersey, slotting him neatly between recent arrivals
Remond Bergervoet and
Egidius van der Duin - the former who has unfortunately rubbed some the wrong way by being a bit of a prima donna.
