Lim's Last
Farmer Bunnies' clearout of their older generations is nearing its end, as they traded 27 year-old
Lim Su Liang to Norwegian IV.19 champions Romulslia. The transfer more or less recoups the S$13 million paid to Lokomotiv Pannocchia for the former St. Xavier's FC man as a 20 year-old national youth player, but will be tinged with slight regret at what might have been.
"I enjoyed every minute with the Buns." Lim said. "Though I wish there could have been some trophies!"
Romulslia funded the move with S$11.2 million obtained for Turkish wide man İzzet Gülsim from Greek club LIBINAKI, as Lim outdid the S$12.5 million paid before that for Italian winger Enzo Raineri - if not quite the S$28 million dealt out for former German U-20 goalkeeper Hendrik Labayn, two seasons back. Head coach Hanke von Dohnanyi has not been shy about his ambitions for Romulslia, which include the second division and beyond.
Local Division Two side Phantasm Hotspurs were in the running for Lim too, as were SK 't Euft (Belgian Division Five), Pique Blinders Zürich (Swiss Division Seven) and CS Grevenmacher (Luxembourg Division Two). Unconfirmed sources suggest that Lim had been leaning towards the Hotspurs and a possible shot at the S-League, but Romulslia evidently put together a very attractive package.
Pique Blinders Zürich would settle for Buns trainee Teo Su How instead, with the 17 year-old multitalented utility man having cast his net about for a month already. Teo's mental maturity has been mentioned as one of his strongest points, and according to the youth coaches, he has plenty of room to develop yet.
