Farmer Bunnies trainee custodian Cheong Pin Jie transferred to Turkish VI.756 side Aguş Spor for a nominal S$16000 today, over some competition from German seventh division club macki bumsikova. A converted defender, the 17 year-old was known to be comfortable with ball at feet during his time at the Rancher Rabbits academy, and has been known to be good at warding off set pieces besides.
Cheong's scout Yip De Da attributed it to his experience as an outfielder. "I think it's a mistake for a kid to overspecialize too early, myself. The same went for the Chicken Wings' Wong Keng Keong and Leow Soon Wan, and the Busy Bees' Dahari bin Jumat and Chan Yau Soon, all of whom found the professional ranks unforgiving of any perceived inadequacies.
