Tui For Two
Amidst a rather chaotic period for Grilled International, they managed to arrange their first international friendly within a week of their formation, and fought to an action-packed 1-1 draw against Spanish seventh division invitees CD Tui.
Eighteen year-old fullback
Subhi bin Hj Ahmad had the honour of scoring the club's maiden goal in the 50th minute of the contest from a corner, after CD Tui had the better of the first half, but Alejandro Várez equalised with a pinpoint clip in the 72nd. The side's lack of match-fitness was evident too, as
Hj Kamran bin Hj Iswandi and
Yao Erguo succumbed to cramps midway through.
Grilled International head coach
Tajit bin Mohd preached patience. "I thought we did well, against established opponents, for a young squad. They need quite a bit of seasoning, but likewise, there's plenty of room for improvement here."
"I don't want to rush the acquisition of new players, given how confusing the regulations are currently, even with the assistance of advisors from the Birds. Their help is much appreciated, of course. We'll just run with what we have for a while, and see how it goes."
