Farewell Mr. Darcy
17 year-old academy defender Thomas Darcy left for Belgian Division Five club FC Privot for S$28000, ahead of offers from FC Kalakangas (Finnish Division Six) and Dobio (Uruguay Division Six). Darcy, who had often captained the Chicken Wings and done a lot for their good league finish in the most recent season of the National Youth League, was mostly happy to be in the running for a place.
FC Privot, who do have a fair collection of local defensive talent in the squad, picked up German teenager Reinhart Stäblein at the same time, so even that is not a given. However, Darcy was optimistic. "They have a sensible system going, and if I work hard I gather I'll get my break."
