Grilled 4 - 2 Marbri

e crowd of 3030 turning up at The Cooking Pot today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Regilio Canijn was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Sylvestre Hitz and Aron Dorobanţu. A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Grilled. The following players took the field: Bakhtiar - Stanca, Ross - Wee Li, Gudivada, Fonseca, Adabala, Da Teck - Boon Boon, 恒才 (Hengcai), Azhari.

Marbri tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. They fielded: Ngubane - Aass, Ali, Argenta - Kebairejang, Dolby, Lonco, Mahlangu, Buil - Mateaş, Makeba.

Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Marbri clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. Alex Fonseca's name was chanted throughout the stadium after his goal up the middle after 8 minutes gave Grilled the 1 - 0 lead. Some brilliant football from the visitors' right wing resulted in a levelling of the score as Marbri's Bagindawo Makeba put the ball in the net after 11 minutes to make it 1 - 1. Grilled took the lead 12 minutes into the game by 2 to 1, as Wardi Azhari elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. 20 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as 唐 (Tang) 恒才 (Hengcai) dashed through, knocking home 3 - 1 for Grilled. After 21 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Li Boon Boon might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However, Sibusiso Ngubane made a spectacular save. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Marbri's Gatsha Kebairejang got himself booked. 3 - 1 was the score after the first half. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 60 percent possession of the ball.

The Grilled players could smell victory in the air. Li Boon Boon wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Teo Yong Yau after 46 minutes. Mayur Gudivada, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass. Players in team Grilled heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Grilled coach let Chow Ying Lee replace Alex Fonseca after 75 minutes. 76 minutes in and an amazing pass from the left side resulted in a goal for the visitors, as Tănase Mateaş charged ahead and scored, reducing the deficit to 3 - 2. Lasse Aass could have scored the tying goal after 84 minutes, if only his free kick had been a few inches to the other side of the post. Walter Ross's curling free kick almost found the goal for Grilled, but the visitors' keeper somehow managed to get ahold of it. Grilled solidified their lead at the 86 minute mark, as 唐 (Tang) 恒才 (Hengcai) manoeuvered the ball through the opposing central defence and finished for 4 - 2. Grilled's players now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. As Walter Ross was substituted 89 minutes into the game, he could take comfort in the fact that his team was in the lead. 林 (Lin) 俊桂 (Jungui) was the replacement. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.

Most important Grilled player was 林 (Lin) 俊桂 (Jungui). Hilal Bakhtiar">Hilal Bakhtiar was a disappointment, however. Marbri's best player was Tănase Mateaş. Bagindawo Makeba on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 2.
