We Are Jurong
After countless seasons of belonging to the rather unimaginatively named "West" region, Grilled can finally officially call themselves a Jurong club. The change in nomenclature came after a petition from the grassroots, and has saw many other divisions renamed.
For example, Balestier is now known as Toa Payoh, Newton referred to as the probably more representative Ang Mo Kio, the North now appropriately termed Woodlands, and Changi, slightly controversially, redubbed as Pasir Ris.
Interestingly, these changes in the Hattrick world were overshadowed by the electoral divisions announced by the local authorities, which has led to some confusion among the men on the street.
"I dunno, I was once living in Jurong, I think." longtime casual Grilled follower Tan Ah Hock, 62, recalled. "And then, I became a Hong Kah resident. After that, I think I belonged to the West Coast constituency, and today, after moving in with my kids a few streets down, I'm in Pioneer."
"It's all very complicated."
