Safrinho Come Of Age
Safri bin Mohamad, better known as Safrinho to Grilled watchers, became the Birds' third current U-20 forward after he was called up for an international friendly against Oceania. He stepped on the pitch at The Orc Pit aged 18 years and 110 days.
While the Young Lions lost 2-0 to the combined Australian and New Zealand team, with Safrinho getting nothing but a fast booking, the Grilled coaching staff still hailed it as an outstanding achievement for the former Red Chaos trainee. "Safrinho's been working very hard lately, with Safri and Chow to look up to. I always knew he had it in him." head coach
Han Lik-Tsun quipped.
"Actually,
Tian Yonghang and
Fan Xiuyu aren't all that far behind either, but they have their work cut out for them, since their eligibility in terms of age isn't ideal for the U-20 schedule." Han mused. "I keep telling them to bust their asses in training, though, since you never know, with suspensions, injuries and all that..."
"Remind them that they shouldn't seek promotion by '
accidentally' hacking down their fellow forwards though!" Han added, only half-jokingly.
