No Thirteen For Wings
The Chicken Wings youth side's impressive winning streak finally came to an end today, as they were overcome 1-4 in Spain by los birrillas, the youth team of Berniboys fc. Li Shunguo did well to race thirty metres and get on the end of a through ball to score, but goals from Gómez and Vilariño kept the hosts in front for most of the game. Rueda and Centelles then added two in the final minutes to give the scoreline added gloss.
The twelve match run began with a 1-3 away win at Dead Poets Society, all the way to a 4-2 home victory against Team Remy83 Novices, during which the boys scored 57 times and conceded only ten times. "It was a great accomplishment by the kids," an assistant coach said. "but by now it's become a bit of an albatross around their necks, so I'm not too unhappy it's over."
The Wings are comfortably leading the National Youth League, in stark contrast to the fortunes of the senior side. "Having a couple of top young goalies has a lot to do with it." apprentice Sim Tong Ping said. "It's nice to know that you've got your backsides covered, unlike when I played pick-up games in the park."
