Dragons 0 - 2 Grilled
26 punters turned up at Ocean Dragons Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Paco Bombín was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jasper Bernet and
Daniel Manzoni. Dragons had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Sosa - Antoniow, Latorre Civera, Luz - Tovar, Liljenman, Christiansson, MacInnes, Leão - Arendt, Lãzãroiu.
Grilled had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. They fielded: Bao-Tam - Bona, Kek-Tjiang, Siu-Yue, Falkbo - Spirig, Han Kok, Borup, Jie Siong, Rottman - Wai-Kin.
Grilled clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. After 3 minutes, Grilled put themselves up by 0 - 1, as
Shen Kek-Tjiang finished off a strike from the left with a real cannon placed at the far post.
Jon Andrea Rottman was, after 31 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but home side's keeper
Juan Gilberto Sosa made the save.
Per Liljenman of Dragons received a yellow card after 34 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. 36 minutes into the game, Grilled had difficulty finding their positions and their organization dropped to
wretched. The visitors'
Terkel Borup took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and central backs 39 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Grilled. Grilled's
Dani Spirig refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 40 minutes. Dragons had a brilliant opportunity to reply as
Per Liljenman received a high ball from the right, striking the ball in the air. Only
Hang Bao-Tam's reflexes saved him. Halftime score was 0 - 2. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Dragons, with an impressive 55 percent possession of the ball.
Grilled's coach had an extra briefing during the break, and after that his players had
passable organization. After 48 minutes
Per Liljenman could have reduced the lead with a blistering strike from the left wing, had it not been for an excellent block by the visitors' keeper. With 68 minutes played,
Au-Yong Siu-Yue nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. 71 minutes into the game, Grilled seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
poor level of organization.
Robert Christiansson of Dragons received a yellow card after 74 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
Quah Han Kok came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but he lifted the ball over
Juan Gilberto Sosa and it was a little too high and hit the bar. Dragons held the ball, with a clear 55 percent of possession.
The most dominating Dragons player was without a doubt
Neil MacInnes.
Eric Antoniow on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Grilled player was
Cao Wai-Kin.
Au-Yong Siu-Yue was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 2.
