Grilled took the lead 2 minutes into the game, scoring the 0 - 1 goal after some elegant plays down the middle. Quah Han Kok was the scorer. The corner kick from Sylweriusz Zywczyn set Peter Fjällbratt up perfectly, as he soared to meet the ball, heading it in for 0 - 2. Luis Alcántara was called on to replace Grilled's Fabian Bona after 28 minutes following a nasty collision. After 32 minutes, Jens-Uwe Fiedelsberger had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for Superstars with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar. After 33 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Maikel Rotteveel who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 3. After this, Grilled lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. Superstars's Marko Grassmann got the home crowd going when he finished off a left wing charge, reducing the away team's lead to 1 - 3. 1 - 3 was the halftime score. This half belonged to Superstars, who controlled the ball 63 percent of the time.

49 minutes into the match, Superstars's Winfried Holzminden collected a ball sent down the right and put it in the back of the net, narrowing the score to 2 - 3. Superstars put pressure on the visitors' central defence 53 minutes into the game, but Eckhard Mette couldn't find an opening. 62 minutes into the game, Grilled worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. The Grilled player who had to be helped off the pitch, was Lee Jie Siong as he was unable to finish the game. John MacKinnon came in to finish the match. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Superstars, with an impressive 63 percent possession of the ball.

Not having decided a winner at the end of regulation, the match went into extra time. Many thought Marko Grassmann ought to have been awarded a penalty shot 103 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around Brad Beckman after a determined run through the middle. Mario Münnichshöfer gave Superstars the lead with 4 - 3, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball unreachably at the keeper's right post. Extra time over, Superstars were the victors!

Thibaut Poudroux performed admirably for Superstars. On the other hand, Hendrik Heiden's play was disheartening. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Quah Han Kok. However, Luis Alcántara made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 4 - 3.
