Grilled 6 - 0 Warrior

ouds darkened the skies at The Cooking Pot as 96000 spectators turned up for the match. Merlijn Coulen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Diego Corsi and Carlos Zayas Muñiz. Grilled tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Abed-Sulaiman - Zywczyn, Lik-Tsun, Bona - Spirig, Han Kok, MacKinnon, Paullin, Jie Siong - Rotteveel, bin Ku Zainol.

Warrior started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Rufedi - Tian Chin, Lien, Shiu-Loong - bin Moidony, Yi-Ping, Ming-Foo, Habets, Siong Yew - Kang-yin, Rosado.

Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. For their match strategy, Warrior had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Many thought John MacKinnon ought to have been awarded a penalty shot 11 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around Valentin Rufedi after a determined run through the middle. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by Maikel Rotteveel. At last, Grilled's John MacKinnon was able to shove the ball in. 1-0. 25 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Quah Han Kok dashed through, knocking home 2 - 0 for Grilled. 29 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Fabian Bona dashed through, knocking home 3 - 0 for Grilled. Dani Spirig unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Maikel Rotteveel squirmed himself through their central defence after 38 minutes, bringing the lead to 4 - 0. At this point in the game, defending their lead became the main priority for Grilled. The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 0. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.

Grilled put in a good effort on the right, but John MacKinnon saw his volley fly wide of the mark 48 minutes into the game. Cheers filled the stadium as Subri bin Ku Zainol broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the 5 - 0 goal for Grilled. After an industrious effort down the middle, Lee Jie Siong could have closed the game off after 67 minutes, but his finishing shot hit the post. John MacKinnon gave Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 6 - 0 after 86 minutes, following a good exchange of passes on the right that the away team failed to deal with. Subri bin Ku Zainol unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Grilled's Han Lik-Tsun refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 87 minutes. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 67 percent possession of the ball.

Most important Grilled player was Lorenz Paullin. Lee Jie Siong on the other hand, had a terrible day. Warrior's best player was Bai Ming-Foo. On the other hand, Valentin Rufedi's play was disheartening. The match ends 6 - 0.
