Su Liang Homecoming
Farmer Bunnies bolstered their ranks with 35 year-old former star turn
Lim Su Liang, who rejoined after eight full seasons at Norway's Romulslia, with whom he won their Division Three league in his first year there, together with two Division Battles. Romulslia accepted the Buns' first bid of just over S$1.43 million, and the transaction was done.
Romulslia's Italian head coach Juri De Angelis was out to refresh his squad, and with the recent purchases of twenty-odd year-olds Magnus Klintling, Klemens Mosser and Isidro Nunes, it was clear that Lim had to be on his way out. Demand remained high with early signals from English VI.195 outfit Bridge_Burners, then at least four clubs vying for his services at an asking price of over a million: Geissbock06 (German Division Four), Spice Islanders FC (Grenada Division Two), AVMA (Turkish Süper Lig) and FC REILU (Finnish Division Four).
Lim admitted that these options had their attractions, but also that he considered Farmer Bunnies his true home of sorts, which made the final decision easier than it might otherwise have been. He will wear the Number 55 jersey in tribute to his Number 5 with Romulslia, with his original Number 24 having been adopted by
Arun Ponnusamy.
Vishnu Tallapaka envisioned the returnee as one of his top fullback options, who will also fill a mentorship role for the younger generation. "We do have plenty of decorated veterans, but not many that are local-born." Tallapaka explained. "Lim's story may be a bit easier to relate to."
