Grilled Birds finished 7024th of 26530 teams in this season's Supporter Week Trophy with a 5-2-3 record and +16 goal difference, a decent if not outstanding outcome. This included two wins on the final day, with Chilean IV.29 club ANGELITA - who played the Birds' S-League team in the World Battle tourney some twelve seasons back - seen off 6-1 with
Gústav Thoroddsen scoring twice. Danilo Namuncurá getting sent off in the 33rd minute for an unacceptable two-footed lunge on
Chad Thach hobbled the Chileans, who had otherwise done well to answer
Orest Tokarz's 18th minute strike through Paco Melillanca.
Swiss H.A.L VI.479 club FCZ-1896 then took the lead through German veterna Leif Templin as skipper Sabatino Venneri yielded on the overlap early in the next fixture, but the Birds answered with five goals. The finale would then be against Bahrain II.1 champions Swiss Sooners of Janubiyah, who had just won their Ruby Challenger Cup last term. This would be a top-level exchange with young UAE star goalie Khamees Al-Mesfari and former Kyrgyzstani youth international forward Urmat Nurseitov featuring, but it was Dutch centreback Ricardo Reemer to open against the run of play, after
Federico Parada's miss.
Gústav Thoroddsen took just three minutes to reply through his usual imperious dribbling within the box that dared the defenders to make contact, but Odd Stangeland clipped another past Germanakos via a slight deflection, and then Shah Moeen sent the hapless custodian the wrong way from the spot, after an unfortunate handball.
Chad Thach wowed with some great improvisation for 3-2 in the 36th, but it ended 4-3 with Jan Gładyszewski and
Orest Tokarz scoring in the second half.
Farmer Bunnies were 17988th on 3-3-4, first suffering a 0-1 loss to Belgian H.A.L VI.543 side Purple Tchè from an Artur Miklavžič free-kick that crept through the wall. Recently-promoted Turkish V.9 outfit Urla Karantina city were more vulnerable to the Buns' counters, as they were taken apart 0-3 by the 33rd minute with
Vitaliy Efendiev grabbing two, followed by a
Prakash Bhujbal chest-in.
Louis Lee completed the rout three minutes in the second half on a free-kick played short.
Tennessee's Suffering Bastards then held the Buns to their trademark nil-all, as the IV.1 representatives were conservative in their classic 3-5-2.
Vitaliy Efendiev and
Judah Cho had early chances eventually rushed down by the men and red and white stripes, and
Amaya Ravula had a great chance to win it five minutes from time, but he could not maintain control at the end of his frenetic raid from the left.
Grilled International did better with a winning 5-1-4 and +10 goal difference, padded by their closing game. First, however, they had to endure the indignity of being shut out 0-5 by H.A.L VI.1001 team Grönland Trögers, as the Danes in navy blue made full use of Ali Lindlöf in central defence. Miguel Gallard and Julius Schacke both got braces against a badly-flagging
Sazwan bin Hj Muhd Salleh, with Ib Ravnsbæk really rubbing it in after 78 minutes.
It got better for International, with Grenada III.9 club St. George Armadillos downed 1-4 with Sazwan proving more more in his element in attack. His fourth minute tap-in would be followed by
Umut Koza and
Safari bin Hj Jali by the 18th minute, if with
Phua Li Kong trying too hard with his dive next.
Mohsen Zeynali got onto the end of a floated free-kick in the 74th minute, before Adam Duračka converted on of several good crosses by Jakub Pacuda late on.
There would then be a goal feast against Finnish VI.122 team Patapuron Pallopojat, as the previously-quiet
Chua Jun Long finally exploded with a hat-trick. He would have to wait until the 84th minute to confirm it and top off the 8-0 crushing, though, with Antti Korkola making a brave effort to keep up with his run.
