It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 4-5-1. Grilled used their divine (+9) (29) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Tonners, taking advantage of their divine (20) level with that tactic. 3 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Grilled to take the lead after a good cross from the right found
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. Cornered close to the sidelines,
Serdar Emre Sazak managed to wiggle his way past his marker, and then placed it perfectly in the channel for a break-away. A counterattack by Tonners after 4 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but
Othman Hariry, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. Making his way up the middle 11 minutes into the match,
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
Nguyễn Duy Thanh blocked it to keep the score level. Grilled took the lead 24 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
Lim An Keng elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. 25 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Grilled.
Chia Kwang Tse had a fantastic opportunity to put Grilled up another goal 31 minutes into the match after a pass through the middle set him free, but he fired just over the crossbar. 32 minutes into the game,
Michal Balkovič finished off a Tonners left wing counterattack, making the score 2 - 1.
Balasubramanian Teja tied the game at 2 - 2 after 39 minutes, when he converted an incredible pass from the right. Grilled's
Chad Thach was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 40 minutes. 2 - 2 was the score after the first half. Grilled had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.
Grilled made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left
Gandhik Chitre completely alone with keeper
Nguyễn Duy Thanh, who made a spectacular block. Tonners's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing
Michal Balkovič to score easily from the right flank for 2 - 3.
Paulino Trindade's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Grilled. 3 - 3. At 69 minutes played,
Chad Thach came in from the right with the intention of giving Grilled the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
Tan Tse Kok knocked one home from a counterattack down the right wing, making the score 3 - 4 after 70 minutes. After 75 minutes, the Tonners coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Balasubramanian Teja off the field.
Yong Siong Eng took his place. With the scoreboard showing that 77 minutes had been played, Tonners nearly put themselves up another goal after
Othman Hariry came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact.
Bogdănel Giurgiu received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 89 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 3 - 5. The Tonners fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. The match ends 3 - 5. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.
Most important Grilled player was
Chia Kwang Tse.
Dimitris Germanakos was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Tonners player was without a doubt
Tan Tse Kok.
Diego Giménez turned in a dismal performance, however.
