Badly Broken
Again Complete
Grilled Birds reclaimed their distinction of having visited and hosted clubs from all Hattrick territories, by having Saint Vincent and the Grenadines's Breaking Bad F.C. at The Cooking Pot - and right on time for the new season. It was not the most edifying of experiences for the II.4 side, though, as they were overrun 10-0 by the Birds.
Chilean 19 year-old forward Juan Carlos Longoria would be the most highly-rated of Breaking's travellers today, with their main stars such as Anders Hansen and Leon Caes sitting this one out entirely. Grilled, as usual, had too many fringe first-teamers to reciprocate, and Breaking did themselves no favours by somehow electing to play this with ten men.
The Birds were willing to oblige Demetrio Matrisciano's whimsy, though, and the visitors actually did extremely well for themselves, for the first twenty minutes or thereabouts. Breaking Bad F.C. went as far as to clock the first real attempt of the day, as a quick-thinking Amar Ljubunčić put his head to Carl-Georg Feichtmayr's barely-there flick-on from a corner.
Cameron Law was rooted, and extremely relieved to watch the ball spin off his far post.
Breaking's early industry would fade as their legs predictably went, however, which was probably what the Grilled set were expecting. They had reserved a few extra gears as well, and Breaking were left floundering once Grilled stepped it up.
Wu Jinglong celebrated his contract extension with a superbly-weighted low cross over to
Chu Xin Lee in the 32nd minute, and Chu would add a second goal six minutes later, with
Toma Tamiya doing the same from the other wing.
Close-up strikes from
José Luiz Velho and
Bernie Egan followed, before Chu completed his hat-trick before half-time, as skipper-for-the-day
Gilbert Webb stormed his way through from the back. Hugo Panýrek and Casper Kist would be booked trying to break the Birds' momentum, to no avail, and
Prokop Mottl slipped through for 6-0 in first half injury time.
Cameron Law - who had little to do after the Ljubunčić effort - would come off for
Manuel Vadalà during the break, which recharged the Breaking players sufficiently for them to resume their former fortitude. There would be much hard running and chasing going on as their ten men bravely bustled about neutralizing Grilled's approaches, until the same collapse occurred.
It began with
Mateja Jeftić scooting past everybody in the 70th, and Chu was not done either, from how he executed a magnificent give-and-go with
Wu Jinglong a few minutes later. Breaking had Branko Tomović on the sidelines, not looking particularly roused to be a part of this beating, and he would swap on for Miloš Jolović as his team reassembled for yet another restart, thanks to
Bernie Egan firing past the largely-hapless Naum Myatlev.
The home fans were after an auspicious end to the campaign, and
José Luiz Velho obliged with what would be its final goal, after he was left unattended by himself on the left. There would be a few more subs, but nothing to materially affect the outcome.
