Toma managed the rare distinction of spending an entire season training in an unofficial capacity with the senior team after his academy graduation, before being signed to a long-term contract by Grilled. Honestly put, few are expecting too much from this local lad, but he does wear his heart on his sleeve, and offers good size out wide and in the clutch.

He would be an extremely late bloomer too, with his breakout season arguably coming about when he was 34 years of age. This was sufficient for him to be substituted into the Birds' cup final against Moeinsingapore, which gained him a Sapphire Challenger Cup winner's medal to go with his S-League token.
