Egan's Long Layoff
Grilled captain
Moey Xin Seng had few regrets, after this Hattrick Masters second round defeat to Sol Mar. "They were an amazing team through and through, we all can see that, and the guys fought every step of the way. Kalle put us in a great position with his goals, and I'm only sorry that we couldn't hold out."
Realistically, of course, few expected the Birds to be true challengers in the Masters, and the far bigger concern would be on
Bernie Egan's condition. While not a career-ender, the damage to Egan's knee was found to be serious enough that he will be out for a month - which extends well past the Singapore Cup final, assuming Grilled make it there again.
"It's just damned back luck." Moey remarked. "Bernie was doing so well for us, with seven goals already this season. The only consolation is that we have several guys returning from their own knocks, so we will make do the best we can."
