Grilled Birds 4 - 3
JUtd
High Noon Awaits
Although Grilled won, the day was a slight victory for heimu XI in terms of the title race, as they trounced CharlesCheesePie 3-0 despite playing away. The margin was inconsequential actually as Grilled had failed to win by more than the odd goal, meaning that any win by heimu on final day would land them the trophy irregardless.
"It makes it all so simple." two-goal scorer Mohd Safri bin Mohd Safri commented. "Win, and win the title too. I'm not even thinking of settling for the draw! It's been far too long since we have lifted silverware."
"And oh, I can't tell you how glad I am that I scored today - hearing some of the forfeits that the guys thought up, you would never think that they were simple, nice men!"
Elsewhere, Rapala FC confirmed third spot by hammering the hapless Siegmund United 7-1, condemning them to spend next season in Division Three despite having slugged it out in the S-League just two seasons ago. Player sales have hit Siegmund hard, but they should still be too good to linger long down below.
With SpartanSG and CharlesCheesePie unable to finish any lower than fifth, the other game to look out for next weekend would be JUtd hosting Phantasm Hotspurs - the winner will earn a qualification game, while the loser gets relegated together with Siegmund. JUtd can afford a draw, as they achieved on opening day, but few would dare count on that outcome.
