Grän Finale
Grilled Birds finished a decent 2450th of 25648 participants in the latest Supporter Week Trophy with a 6-2-2 record, and +10 goal difference. Their extremely faint hopes of progression would be dashed in the eighth round by Estonian II.2 side FC Krendos, who reversed
Gandhik Chitre's second-minute stunner by the 38th.
Chad Thach did well to level it up nine minutes into the next half, but Bolivian Number Nine Carlos Alberto Roman stormed the Birds' ramparts with a brace, and it ended 2-5 to Krendos.
It was Hamburg club Ohlendorfer Kickers next, and the German V.205 representatives put up a good fight, leading through Greek playmaker Grigorakis Afroudakis before goals from Andrović, Marzuki and Thach again left Mario Principato's 80th minute dash through simply a second consolation. That 3-2 win was followed by another 5-5 against celebrated Faroese H.I. II.1 club FC Gränsö, former Hattrick International Cup winners. They ran up a pulsating 3-0 lead towards the end of the first half, but prompt responses by
Lim An Keng and
Gandhik Chitre had it at 2-4 by half-time.
FC Gränsö were perhaps too passive as they attempted to maintain their lead, possibly trusting too much in the midfield nous of Pier Luigi Forestan and former Uruguayan U-20 stopper Federico Pintos, and found themselves cut back down through
Hwang Teck Fu and
Chad Thach's savvy finishing, by the 69th minute. Pintos did come close to winning it after a nice run down the right, but
Gandhik Chitre had the moves to break the defensive line too, 78 minutes in.
This turned out to be a satisfying outcome for all concerned, given that both sides were long out of the running, and Hwang was eager to laud Forestan's command of his territory. "He was one of the best midfielders I have come across in this tournament - and outside it. So hard to get by."
Farmer Bunnies lost two of their last three fixtures to wind up 9070th on 5-1-4 and negative one goal, with the all-black F.C.the williams team of the Belgian IV.2 showing just why they had won their league, with a patient passing game that bore fruit with Anton Naessens' decisive invention in the 56th minute. Former Serbian cupwinners Krila Nisa might have relegated into IV.58, but they were likewise able to eke out victory thanks to Tom Kristiseter's 12th minute corner heroics.
In between, it was English IV.7 side Manchester United, a tribute club to the famous originals; and yes, it was
Gabriel Priebe once more, with a curling free-kick that just about eluded Czech custodian Mojmír Turner on the half-hour.
"I guess Gabriel just bailed us out again."
Lau Keng Kwang joked.
Grilled International fared better at 5593rd with six wins and four losses, and five goals to the good. Peruvian IV.2 entrants Mayoristas FC opened through former Armenian youth international Arakel Hovsepyants 25 minutes in, only to be dismantled by
Umut Koza's second-half brace. Koza would likewise score twice in the next game against III.4 Lima club Chupentus FC, only for International to succumb 3-5 after volume shooting from the Peruvians overwhelmed
Darshana De Abrew.
Their final match would thus be against Italian VII.738 side andre77, and yes, there would be another Koza double, though this came after
Egidius van der Duin made himself useful with two by the 29th minute.
Chua Jun Long got his 80 minutes in only to be upstaged by Swiss midfielder Cyprien Caillet with his fooling of
Waldemar Gołata, but Koza then had the last word with a lucky deflection for 5-3.
"Drinks are on Umut today!"
Phua Li Kong declared. "And yes, we know he doesn't drink."
