Azemmour Edged
Quah Stars
Grilled finally turned their torrid recent friendly record around, as a strong side composed of eight first-teamers got the better of Algerian Division Two club, Azemmour Top Team. The hosts set out to entertain in a 4-3-3, but contrary to expectations the match got bogged down into a technical battle.
Azemmour, playing in the customary dark blue strip, attempted to concentrate their attacking force down the middle, but that was altogether too predictable for the likes of Lik-Tsun and Talib.
Quah Han Kok then impressed with an intelligent first touch that chained naturally into a stiff shot from his stronger right foot that flew unstoppably past Spanish keeper Estanislao Melía.
Well-liked Hungarian winger
Sándor Deme, who started at rightback today, should really have gotten his name up in lights after Rotteveel swung in a corner that Quah climbed highest to flick on to him. Deme was too hasty in directing his header goalwards, though, and could only find the woodwork.
A stolid second half's highlight was
Nawaz Talib pushing tricky Peruvian central striker Zergio Pantoja over in a tussle for the ball, for which the Pakistani got the game's only yellow card. Fábio Amadeu had a decent go at the free-kick, but Valdir was in majestic form and gathered the ball easily.
