Revolution Rocked
Sweet Six
Grilled put six past Lebanese Division Two leaders Revolution Rockers Beirut despite their focus on defence, and also in spite of the pouring rain.
The hosts' strategy was scuppered almost before they had began, as speedy Norwegian winger
Allan Ødegaard proved that pace can destroy the best-laid of plans. Escaping the attentions of his marker, Ødegaard simply ran faster than the other defenders to bang Hjortlind's well-weighted pass into the far corner of goal.
Mohd Firdaus was next as Swee Pheng chipped nicely into his path, while Hjortlind made it three with help from Chuan Jing. The Rockers mostly held their shape but were unable to adequately react to quick thrusts on the wings, with wingback Najjar Awad Bany Yaseen sacrificing a yellow card for the good of his team.
Yaseen and their coach drummed some tactical discipline into their team at half-time, and their captain, Polishman Szymon Puczyłowski, might have gotten one back when Grilled's defence fell asleep. That chance went begging, and a similar opportunity at the other end was converted by Bukhari.
Grilled then signed off with spectacular efforts by Swee Pheng and Jie Siong, as Seng-Huat charitably attempted to gift one to the hosts as he passed straight to El-Wazani in the 73rd minute. The popular local star missed to the left, however, and Swee Pheng nearly boosted his stock further with a cannonball that whizzed by the post.
