Brutaliste Sponsor
In a departure from history, Grilled Birds would announce that an external main sponsor would go on their shirts today, unlike their timeworn practice of reserving that prime property for themselves. The first to gain that privilege would be international architectural firm Brutaliste, who beat out a host of renowned competitors, including RNA Random Numbers Accounting, Pitch Perfect Music, Inner Peace Insurance and Bigfoot Balls Sporting Equipment for the contract.
"Brutaliste had the best overall offer, by some distance." club executive vice-chairman Raymond Lee explained. "An old-fashioned, solid, straight-up deal. Very much like their buildings, come to think of it."
The other Grilled clubs would hitch their own new backers too, with Farmer Bunnies now proudly bearing the insignia of aspirational white-shoe law firm Gustaf & Son Legal Advisors, and Grilled International going for an arrangement with the local brance of Inner Peace Insurance. That said, Lee warned that the financial climate remained precarious.
"Perhaps it's a little arrogant to put it this way, but even for a club that's won three of the last four S-League titles, the sums involved were generally... slightly underwhelming. I suppose it's everyone bracing for tougher climes."
