Sunil Than Later
All of Sunil Lagadapati's dreams came true, as the 17 year-old Grilled Birds academy graduate was accepted by two-time Argentina Primera División champions Picante, on a free transfer today. Local observers - and perhaps the lad most of all - were bemused by what Cataldo Ferreri's scout saw in him, with most followers of the Chicken Wings seemingly agreeing that he was a marginal prospect at best.
"I can't lie, I wasn't expecting this." Lagadapati's Wings recruiter Tham Beng Li said. "Sunil tries hard, is a good chap and all that, but it's not a secret that he was never among the first names on the team sheet here. But Picante saw something we all missed, I suppose."
To be fair, Sunil had been part of a recruitment drive that had also seen Csaba Mózsa, Valentín Oblitas and Arshia Azimzadeh join Picante today, and he remained unabashedly overawed at where fate had led him. "Whatever happens, it's great for his C.V." Tham added. "There's nothing to lose for him here."
