It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 5-3-2. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Bunnies, taking advantage of their extra-terrestrial level with that tactic. Grilled took the lead 33 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
Moey Xin Seng elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Grilled's
Vikram Mudaliar saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 34 minutes. After 35 minutes, a well-worked counterattack by Bunnies on the right presented an easy opportunity in front of the goal that was duly converted by
Wong Ting Yew to make it 1 - 1. Bunnies's
Sunil Patel got himself booked for a foul.
Bilal Mohammad Harun caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 38 minutes. This gave Grilled the 2 - 1 lead. It was 2 - 1 at the break. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 71 percent.
Bernie Egan would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Bhavya Panigrahi entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes. Bunnies's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 48 minutes gone, but
Lau Chang Wan's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. After a savage shot that could only be parried by the keeper,
Nurlan Ablaev demonstrated his experience by being in just the right place to slot home the rebound. His goal for Bunnies 60 minutes into the match made the score 2 - 2. They were singing the praises of
Chu Xin Lee 72 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 3 - 2 to Grilled. As the 88 minute mark approached, the Bunnies coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Mushtag Al-Nameeri reluctantly made way for
Enzo Paolo Panzarino on the pitch. 89 minutes into the game, Bunnies wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Nurlan Ablaev gave
Ermis Ftenopoulos a quick hug as he left the field. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 3 - 2. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.
Grilled's best player was
Moey Xin Seng.
Bhavya Panigrahi on the other hand, had a terrible day. Bunnies's top performer was clearly
Tham Leng Teck. On the other hand,
Ermis Ftenopoulos's play was disheartening.
