Izzaq Austria-Bound
The Busy Bees' Izzaq Faris Khairul Helmi snagged a move to Austrian Division Five club FC Carlsberg Linz straight out of the academy, with their head coach George Cojocaru seeing something in the tall central attacker. Such was his determination to land Izzaq that he fended the Los Angeles-based L.A. Lapers off with a S$100000 bid, when all International were honestly hoping for was a free transfer.
Bees scout Adinath Pant would the first to admit that Izzaq was more promise than polish at this stage, but he would hasten to play up the 17 year-old's strengths. "He wants to make every ball his, especially if it's in the air. Very useful role to fill."
This was evidently a quality that Cojocaru was extremely interested in, looking at how his recent recruitment search has been noted to result in six or seven very similar youngsters. "There's plenty of grit to spare in that collection." Pant noted.
