King Of Brunei
Grilled International continued with their induction of academy graduates, with
Wang Hanxuan signing pro terms, three days removed from his seventeenth birthday. Blessed with a knack for close control, Wang has never hidden his preference to start up top, but his coaches have tended to utilize him as a traditional midfielder.
It appears as if the newly-minted Number 28 will have to endure that for a while longer, with the senior coaching staff also agreeing that his suite of skills would be best polished as a playmaker. "Wang has bags of potential, but despite what he thinks, he can't do out-and-out striker well yet. With his intelligence, he can however assert himself from deeper." assistant coach Lin Kuan Jie assessed.
Busy Bees should not be too hard done by Wang's promotion, as they welcomed forward Rahman bin Kamran, who had been seconded from Sayyidina Husain Secondary School. As for the Rancher Rabbits, they have taken a punt on one of the youngest kids to qualify for their academy squad - 15 year-old Dinesh Gowarikar.
Head scout Yip De Da was apparently impressed by the background work that Gowarikar's family had put into his development, with him having undergone structured training since as young as seven. "It's a rarity to see such dedication among local boys, and Dinesh certainly has all the basics firmly down pat."
