Casting The Net Wide
After years of sticking to Jurong and the Orchard area respectively, Grilled scouts Tham Beng Li and Mok Feng De have been sighted trawling Clementi for talent, in keeping with a developing trend across the country.
"It's good to venture out of our comfort zones once in a while." chief scout Tham remarked. "Moreover, the established networks were running a bit dry, and with the concentration of talent that's been cropping up in the region, continuing to ignore it would have been unprofessional."
A fixture at the Chicken Wings since its inception, the seemingly ageless Tham has been a father-figure of sorts to generations of trainees, which has brought speculation on his age. Tham however demurred to answer.
"It's not just women that are entitled to keep this secret." he laughed. "And wasn't there talk about dropping the retirement age?"
In other news, Sabastian Nguyen - a cousin of Birds and Bunnies players Leonard and Daniel - confirmed his departure from the system today, immediately after graduating from the academy. While he managed several games at fullback for the Wings, Sabastian never made the impression that he had hoped for.
"I would have done it all over again even had I knew, but I guess I've reached my limits as a footballer." the affable seventeen year-old said.
