SCORING SUMMARY The Drunken Butterflies Grilled Birds

Irish Premier club The Drunken Butterflies, who had just successfully fended off Tille United for their place in the top flight, opted not to play their inconsequential final group stage match against the Birds. Sadly, despite the automatic 5-0 walkover, cardiff tigers' 4-1 romp over Keynsham Town left the Birds no chance of advancing.

While doubly disappointed both at the no-show as well as their elimination from the Plan 9 Cup, skipper Tian Yonghang understood the Butterflies' decision, and agreed that they had not done enough to get through in all honesty.

"With the Butterflies undergoing a huge shakeup, it's understandable that they not want to risk their players. That said, I was looking forward to facing Josh Nicholas and Rick Leitão, among their other prominent faces."
