Shankar Sold
Two minutes' worth of exposure in an actual friendly proved more effective than sending out hours of training tapes for 18 year-old
Shankar Athlye, who obtained a free transfer to Lazio-based A.C. Stella Polare after his turnout against WorkerBees FC.
There had been no takers for the silky winger after his videos had been distributed by the club for months, but a freelance scout sitting in at The Cooking Pot the week before liked what he saw, and after a few phone calls, set Athlye up with A.C. Stella Polare's former Hattrick Masters-playing coach Matan Arbetman, who agreed to give Shankar a shot.
Grilled head of youth development Tham Beng Li was delighted at this turn of events. "Honestly, it's too easy for talent to get lost in a flood of YouTube clips nowadays. There's always something that doesn't translate over the camera, and I'm happy that it worked out for Athlye."
The teenager himself has set his sights on inheriting Alberto Reguero Martín's left wing spot, with the Spaniard set to move on.
