Vyborgs 8 - 6 Grilled

iv id="matchReport"> It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 6594 that came out to Vyborg's Lions Stadium. Mika Huttula was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Nest Berckmans and Maurice Ryder. Vyborgs decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. The following players took the field: Korotkevich - Puminov, Vītmanis, Kulik, Klyuchko - Le Cobusier, Gaitán, Guidotti, Kahmann, Botkin - Kuznetsov.

Grilled tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. Starters: Seng - Bakhtiar, bin Ahmad - Ying Lee, bin Mohd Kassim, Isufi, 勇航 (Yonghang) , Aik Jia - Wan Kang, bin Sabtu, van der Ban.

Many thought A. Le Cobusier ought to have been awarded a penalty 2 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around D. Seng after a determined run through the middle. M. bin Mohd Kassim of Grilled seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 0 - 1 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by R. Isufi. With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 7 minutes gave Vyborgs a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and V. Kuznetsov stepped up to the challenge. 1 - 1 The referee showed Grilled's L. Aik Jia the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. A. Le Cobusier was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Vyborgs's R. Scutelnicu had to come off the bench. C. Ying Lee of Grilled was able to make an impressive rush past the sluggish Y. Klyuchko, which resulted in a goal making the score 1 - 2. After 19 minutes, Grilled were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. L. Wan Kang did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. C. Kahmann made a superb strike after 32 minutes with a shot straight in front of the goal after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second and warded it off for a corner. Grilled increased their lead after 37 minutes when C. Ying Lee broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Grilled lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. A. Botkin challenged the visitors' central defence eagerly, producing a good chance 39 minutes into the game as he went for a through ball. But, as so many times before, the guests' defensive efforts got the best of it. 42 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when Grilled's L. Aik Jia received his second yellow card and was sent off. 44 minutes into the game, Vyborgs seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a passable level of organisation. 1 - 3 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Vyborgs, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Vyborgs had solid organisation. R. bin Ahmad left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 46 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. G. Filippone was the replacement. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from 田. 勇航 (Yonghang) after 56 minutes, and prevented Grilled from going up another goal. The heat made it a terrible day for Y. Klyuchko, who seemed unable to keep up with the other players. It took several tries, but Vyborgs managed to break through on the left after 67 minutes, getting the ball to Y. Klyuchko who easily reduced the lead to make the score 2 - 3. J. Gaitán showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 76 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 3 - 3 equaliser away. Vyborgs's A. Botkin tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. Vyborgs had most of the ball, with 55 percent of possession.

After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of extra time followed. The Vyborgs players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a excellent organisation when the game started again. J. Gaitán would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. D. Ionochkin entered the game for Vyborgs as the match clock showed 91 minutes. Against a lesser team, Vyborgs could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 92 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. With the score still deadlocked after extra time, the teams took to the field for a penalty shoot-out to decide the winner.

Vyborgs's F. Puminov kept his cool as he faced down D. Seng. His composure paid off as he scored easily for 4 - 3. The crowd was awed by 田. 勇航 (Yonghang) 's finely placed shot for Grilled making it 4 - 4. Vyborgs's I. Kulik coolly put the ball past D. Seng. 5 - 4. Grilled's R. van der Ban showed he has nerves of steel when it comes to penalties, easily changing the score to 5 - 5. There aren't many players that have the cheek to take a penalty like that! Vyborgs's G. Guidotti showed he was one of them, as he made it 6 - 5. Grilled's R. Isufi made no mistake. G. Korotkevich didn't have a chance. 6 - 6. Vyborgs's V. Kuznetsov was relaxed as he smoothly put the ball in the net. 7 - 6! Grilled's D. Seng didn't look like he was confident as he stepped up, and produced a badly struck penalty - right into the arms of G. Korotkevich. The score remained 7 - 6. Vyborgs's Y. Klyuchko was relaxed as he smoothly put the ball in the net. 8 - 6! Vyborgs's best player was G. Korotkevich. F. Puminov was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt 田. 勇航 (Yonghang) . On the other hand, H. Bakhtiar's play was disheartening. The match ends 8 - 6.
