The Farmer Bunnies celebrated the first sale of an academy graduate today, as Rancher Rabbits lad Liew Long Jin finally snagged a free transfer to Polish Division Eight club Strażak Szczepańcowa. The 18 year-old had been looking for several weeks, and was on the verge of retiring when a buyer was found.
For Rabbits scout Yip De Da, this was one of the proudest moments of his professional life. "It's exciting to think that one might have a hand in launching a famous career." the 40 year-old former insurance agent said. "I think it was Liew's heading that convinced Strażak to take him on."
It will still be a hard road ahead for the young prospect, certainly, and he will be hoping not to repeat the mistake of Sim Keng Chu, who got burnt out not long after trying to hack it in the unforgiving Italian leagues.
