Kwan Strikes Out
17 year-old defender Kwan Fu Jing was recruited by Spanish Division Six club helenteam for S$102000 today, over sustained interest from atletico picozzi (Italian Division Nine), Radnicki Niż (Polish Division Six), Saint Peters United (Portuguese Division Seven) and AlphonseFreud FC (French Division Six).
Grilled scout Lim Hock Puay was delighted for his protege, and held Kwan up as one of the best that this Wings batch had to offer. "As a dedicated defender on the ground, I would say that he's as good as Nakakita. If he had been just a few months younger, I daresay the U-20 scouts would have been very interested."
Kwan may however face some settling-in issues, as helenteam's Swede head coach Ingemar Edvinsson is a known proponent of giving youngsters exposure at multiple positions. "I can play defensive midfield too, but not the other roles very well." Kwan said. "Hopefully I'll get to exhibit my strengths soon."
