Yes To Yuta
The Birds reaped a windfall today, with Chicken Wings defender Yuta Nakakita fetching S$814 000 from Turkish Division Six club HusPas. The tall ethnic Japanese had been a near-impossible matchup for opponents at leftback for the Wings in his 31 youth starts, and was widely regarded as having the most potential in his class.
Iranian Division Four side NELL CITY were responsible for locking up the negotiations, with FC Teledetekcja (Polish Division Eight), USS Al-Batani NCC-42995 (Yemen Division Four) and FK Žižkov Buddhas (Czech Division Six) bowing out in early discussions.
HusPas had the money to burn after divesting themselves of a half dozen promising youngsters in the past month, and head coach Zbigniew Ciżewski was determined to get his man, no matter what. The Birds were certainly not complaining, though Wings teammate Xavier Kee was reportedly slightly miffed that Nakakita went for so much more than himself.
Also moving was 18 year-old Abdul Ghaffar Farhan Salleh, who was taken on a free transfer by English Division Six club Polonia Leeds. The wingback was extremely relieved, seeing as it was his last shot before giving up on a footballing career.
