X Marks The Shot
Chicken Wings starlet Xavier Kee went on a S$52000 move to Chilean Division Six club rearsenal this afternoon, and will have opportunities aplenty if the departures of rearsenal's midfield mainstays Gregor Glier and José García de Samaniego are anything to go by. Other than local side United Warrior Team, Blaugrana Wrocław (Polish Division Eight), Penetrator FC (Venezuelan Division Five), Terranuova (Italian Division Nine) and Fagus (Hungarian Division Six) were also reportedly interested in Kee.
Chief scout Tham Beng Li, who discovered Xavier at a neighbourhood kids' tourney, saw good things in "
The X-Man"'s future. "Maybe Xavier is not in the absolute top bracket of youth talents, but he has got two good feet and a quick brain." Tham said. "If rearsenal give him starts, they won't be disappointed."
The departure of Xavier and friend-rival Yuta Nakakita will be a challenge for the Chicken Wings to overcome, as they lose two of their top boys in a week. Keeper Zahid Rida Faizal however remains confident that the Wings will retake the National Youth League title, being five points ahead after just six matches.
"Xavier and Yuta are very good, but we have many who are waiting to step into their shoes." Zahid told reporters. "For myself, as long as Kwan (Fu Jing) and Teng (Chun Kong) are in front of me, I think we can keep just about any attack out."
