Finders Keepers
The Birds and the Bunnies forked out for goalkeepers today, as
Krystian Rykowski and
Akıner Sayın were signed for the respective clubs. Rykowski is slated to be
Wong Tian Han's new understudy, after
Hovaness Noubaryan's appointment as part-time assistant coach and
Dan Seng's less-than-satisfactory development, while Sayın has taken the Number One jersey at Bunnies and looks set to play a big part in their future.
"Rykowski is a solid goalie who can handle himself."
Djan Bacelar said of the 23 year-old Pole, now on his seventh club, his latest being Texca CF of the Mexican fifth division, who asked for S$54000 for their Number 25. "Our references have pegged him as a steadfast character, who will be happy to play a role with us."
In contrast,
Vishnu Singh hinted at bigger things for the newly-arrived Turk. "Sayın impressed us with his reactions in training, and it's fair to say that Cheong will have to earn his place back when he returns from injury. He'll probably let in a fair few against Kang Xi, but we won't hold it against him."
Singh also had more to say about Sayın's former employees, FC ŚWIATOWIT of the Polish sixth division. "They sure know how to drive a hard bargain." he grumbled, with reference to the S$74000 final fee. "But we think Sayın's worth every penny."
