Liang Got Grüne
18 year-old virtuoso Liang Ah Shun was picked up by Austrian Division Four side Maurer Grüne for approximately S$315000 today. Liang, a distributor type who mixes fine passing with good defensive positioning in the middle, hopes to persuade new boss Carsten Smed to let him experience the game further up front.
"I see myself as a Number Ten, actually." Liang, who will be the only Asian representative in the Grüne squad, revealed. "But I will play anywhere, if that's what it takes to get a foot in."
Liang may well see openings, with his new club in a bit of bother currently, being rooted to the bottom of IV.55 along with key defender Eigis Spektoras angling for a move. According to Smed, his main competition will come from youth alumni Josip Göttlicher, Matthäus Gapp and Johannes Ye, who are all around the same age.
The talented midfielder has certainly not gone unnoticed, with suitors queuing around the block once he declared his intention to go professional. Danish Division Three club Dinamo Lygte and Hungarian Division Seven club Kígyós Huskys both submitted offers similar to Grüne's, which Liang admitted were hard to turn down.
Reformed East Coast side All The King Men were quickest on the draw but didn't follow up on their initial advances, while Gelber Stern Schaffhausen (Swiss Division Four), Daziz Hotspur (English Division Six), FC Schlachthof Berlin (German Division Four) and mr.messi (Iranian Division Six) were the other interested parties.
