And Iten's Off
Surplus-to-requirements midfielder
Paolo Iten got his move away, and it was home to Division Seven club Fc Castrischer Harrikans, back in his native Switzerland, who put up a S$3.75 million fee. The 26 year-old Iten had been Grilled's go-to set piece taker for the past seasons, bagging 19 goals in 48 total appearances, but the arrival of
Shiya Shaahee and other younger talents meant that it was time to part ways.
"I will look back on my time here fondly, but I still think it is a mistake for Grilled not to stick by me." the departing Iten expressed. "I feel that I still have plenty to offer the club, but there will be no looking back."
Coach
Niculae Stanca actually agreed with that sentiment. "It had little to do with Iten's footballing performance, and all about long-term planning. We'll certainly miss his ability from free kicks! Still, there are only so many places to go around, and sad to say, we have other priorities. The fans may soon get something to cheer about, that said."
