Grilled 0 - 3 Lions

ear skies welcomed the 3869 spectators who had made their way to The Cooking Pot. Matteo De Maio was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Cristoph Stöbel and John Denton. A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Grilled. Starters: Bakhtiar - Awyong, 俊桂 (Jungui) - Wee Li, Gudivada, Boon Boon, Adabala, Da Teck - 恒才 (Hengcai), Ying Lee, Azhari.

Lions had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation. The following players had been chosen: Lumbreras - Fateh, Reininger, Muhammad, Zenker, Soares - Čapljić, Kantors, Halmi, Moisan - Vischer.

Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. For their match strategy, Lions had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Paulis Kantors of Lions received a yellow card after 7 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 25 minutes into the match left Lions's Paulis Kantors completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors. Lions's Jannick Zenker was shown a yellow card after 31 minutes for slicing down an opponent. After 32 minutes of game time, Ralph Reininger had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but Hilal Bakhtiar">Hilal Bakhtiar was in the right place and tipped the ball to a corner. A drive on the left side allowed Lions's Paulis Kantors to get in close and score a goal after 33 minutes, leading to 0 - 2. Halftime score was 0 - 2. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Lions, with an impressive 58 percent possession of the ball.

Grilled needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 46 minutes Krishnan Adabala made way for Teo Yong Yau. Paulis Kantors was first to reach a ball launched long through the center from Lions's defence 48 minutes into the game. He managed to keep his cool and beat the goalkeeper to make the score 0 - 3. At that, Paulis Kantors was noted down for a hat trick! Rosendo Chinchay was called on to replace Grilled's Wardi Azhari after 57 minutes following a nasty collision. With 61 minutes played, Lions's Ivó Halmi missed a penalty when the keeper made a premature dive in the right direction, and tipped the ball out of the way. With the clock showing 62 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Grilled resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by 林 (Lin) 俊桂 (Jungui) in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. The referee showed Lions's Arnaud Moisan the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The Grilled player who had to be helped off the pitch, was 唐 (Tang) 恒才 (Hengcai) as he was unable to finish the game. Alex Fonseca came in to finish the match. Mayur Gudivada's lack of experience almost gave Lions a goal after 70 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. The home crowd cheered when, after 73 minutes, Arnaud Moisan's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. This half belonged to Lions, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

Grilled's best player was Chow Ying Lee. However, Hilal Bakhtiar">Hilal Bakhtiar made a disastrous appearance. Lions's top performer was clearly Thomas Vischer. Ralph Reininger turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 3.
