Grilled today signed 18 year-old Colby Awyong from fellow Jurong club Bukit Gombak on a free, which astoundingly happens to be the first official transaction between the clubs despite both being among the earliest to be founded in the area.

A tall lad who usually plays forward, Colby had certainly not been expecting all this to happen to him, barely days after he was selected from open trials. "Last week, I was just another polytechnic student, and suddenly I've been signed by a professional team, and then sold to another one, in the blink of an eye." he noted. "It's almost too much to take!"

His destiny will not be at the front, however, with Grilled's next coach Niculae Stanca announcing that Colby will be groomed at centreback. "I will not be playing any more games, not even friendlies, except in emergencies." the just-turned 30 year-old Romanian declared.

"Like Hilal, Colby's willingness to take charge, and more impressively, ability to do so without rubbing others the wrong way, caught our eyes." Stanca said. "The two of them should do very well together. Let it not be said that any of our squads lacks direction!"
