Hello Mr Roberto
Grilled recruited S$1.28 million former Philippines youth international
Roberto Mausisa as they bolstered their defensive line, which had lost some depth following the sale of 36 year-old Nawaz Talib. Mausisa was heavily recruited by Austrian Division Two club FX Team and Belgian Division Seven side fighterwinner, but Grilled coach
Han Lik-Tsun's persistance won out.
Mausisa had been injured in FC Pitschen-Pickel's 0-4 defeat in their German eighth division league match, the latest in a run of three wipeouts that saw the Filipino assigned a good share of the blame. He had otherwise been a consistent performer since a S$4.5 million transfer from Belgian side Risin' MCJJ several seasons ago, where he spent most of his professional career after standing out at Manila club source 1 fc.
Mausisa debuted for his national side at rightback in a 1-1 friendly draw with Russia, then came on as a substitute in a 0-5 loss to Romania, before getting sent off late in a 4-0 defeat to Wales. Defeats against Romania, Ireland, Tunisia and Taiwan followed, with draws against Iran and Trinidad & Tobago, before he got his first and only international goal against Bolivia.
Victories against Japan and Tunisia came next, before his national team wrapped up preparations for U-20 WC IX in Malaysia by holding Kenya. Mausisa would play only two qualifying games, coming on in the 69th minute against Singapore, and a 0-4 away thrashing of Vietnam.
Coach
Han Lik-Tsun insisted that Mausisa's arrival did not represent a lack of faith in
Björn Olsson, pointing out that Grilled could always do with more depth in defence. "Football is a squad game nowadays, and having four good defenders for three spots is barely adequate."
