Israelite Insurrection
The Singapore U-20 team's qualification hopes were left hanging by a thread, as main rivals Israel slammed them 3-1 at home. Impressive playmaker Sagi Artzi turned goalscorer in the first minute after comical marking by the Singaporean defence, but Thailand-based Seah Yun Leong replied two minutes later with a real screamer.
Though that restored his team's morale, it was not enough as Micky Levi and Shalom Ovadia put the ball in Mazlan's net, mostly through some world class dribbling by the irrepressible Levi. U-20 Singapore now languish in fourth place in Group 13, with just four points from five games.
"It's going to be an unhill struggle now," under-fire winger
Quah Han Kok had to say. "We should really have done better with our home games against Hong Kong and the Philippines. Now, matters are no longer in our own hands."
