Grilled's accountants had a good day too as the club ledger remained comfortably in the black. "We credit this happy circumstance to the multiple flows of income available to us," head accountant Frances Ho said. "The long Cup run has put quite a bit towards offseting our wage bill, and today's transfer of ex-player Zhan Ju-Hau was just the cherry on top."
Zhan moved from Nobbe United to English Division Four side Withington Wanderers for about S$7.3 million, of which Grilled were entitled to a 6% cut. "We projected a S$8 or S$9 million move actually based on Zhan's matured set-piece abilities, but the deflated mid-season market put paid to that." Ho remarked.
