Sengkang 1 - 6 Grilled

e to an all-day shower, 3061 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Sengkang Mariners Arena. Kfir Kolesnik was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Evert-Jan Schuurmans and Alok Jamil. Sengkang decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. Lineup: Dov-Ber - Mister, Peschel, Chi Xin - bin Ahman, bin Mohammed Noor, Lehtosalo, Flennier - Gilardone, bin Abu Samah, Kaiyan.

Grilled had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Bao-Tam - Alcántara, Bona, Zywczyn - Abd Hamid, Borup, Rottman, Spirig, Han Kok - Hjortlind, Kadak.

Sengkang decided to play creatively. Han Chi Xin showed great fighting spirit and didn't seem to mind the rain at all. The visiting Quah Han Kok was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 20 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. Song Kaiyan of Sengkang was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. 39 minutes into the game, Sylweriusz Zywczyn had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Lan Tuan-Mu. With 42 minutes played, Ulf Hjortlind nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. After 43 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Fabian Bona who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 2. 44 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 3 as Ulf Hjortlind finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Confident in their lead, Grilled decided to play a more defensive game at this point. Halftime score was 0 - 3. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 77 percent of the time.

After 63 minutes of game time, Jaan Kadak had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but Xia Dov-Ber was in the right place and tipped the ball to a corner. The home crowd was not impressed when Jaan Kadak came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 73 minutes. Grilled were now up 0 - 4. The visitors' Dani Spirig took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and central backs 75 minutes into the match. 0 - 5 for Grilled. Grilled came close to extending their lead as Fabian Bona delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 87 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. Man, what a shot by Sengkang's Hairil Zamri bin Mohammed Noor! Firing in from 35 yards after 88 minutes, that is probably going to be one of the finest, most beautiful, wonderfully crafted strikes the crowd here today are ever likely to see. 1 - 5. A drive on the left side allowed Grilled's Ulf Hjortlind to get in close and score a goal after 89 minutes, leading to 1 - 6. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 76 percent of possession.

The most dominating Sengkang player was without a doubt Haji Jamal Nasir bin Abu Samah. Hairil Zamri bin Mohammed Noor turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Jon Andrea Rottman. Lan Tuan-Mu turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 6.
